Inside Clouds: A Drink And Drug Clinic (2001)

"Clouds House in Wiltshire UK is a drink and drugs treatment centre. This groundbreaking 4 part BBC2 documentary from 2001 set over a period of 6 months, follows some of the clients as they go through the initial 6 weeks treatment for their addictions at Clouds. If you've ever been in rehab or know anyone who has (or is thinking about it) or are a counseller/helper of some sort then this might interest you. Group therapy is core to treatment and your fellow peers are just as important if not more so than the therapist. Its one of many treatment centres in the UK. As well as the camera being in on one-to-you therapy and group therapy you also get a look at the counsellors themselves and the client's familys and the affect their behavior has on the client with their own issues."

The Last 48 Hours of Kurt Cobain (2006)

"On April 1st 1994 Kurt Cobain jumped over the wall of the drug rehabilitation centre he was staying at in LA. On April 8th an electrician discovered his body at his home in Seattle. During those seven days Kurt was officially listed as a missing person. This documentary speaks to some of the people who saw or met up with him in that last week. The woman who watched him lick his plate clean, and fail to sign a cheque, in his local restaurant; Duff Mckagan, former bass player of Guns n Roses, who sat next to him on the plane back to Seattle; his drug counsellor from rehab. There are also those who claim to have seen him in those last few days, to have touched the hem of his cloth. And there is Brant, who saw him in a dream the night before he died. It is a film about the generation of a myth. Of the deification of Cobain and the eery silence that fell over Seattle in the days following his death, when his ghost wandered the city."

"After rocker Kurt Cobain's death, ruled a suicide, a film crew arrives in Seattle to make a documentary. Director Nick Broomfield talks to lots of people: Cobain's aunt who provides home movies and recordings, the estranged father of Cobain's widow Courtney Love, an L.A. private investigator who worked for Love, a nanny for Kurt and Courtney's child, friends and lovers of both, and others. Although Love won't talk to him and his inquiries lose him financial backing, he comes to believe the coroner's verdict. "Festival is sadly among the missing documents of an era in popular music that continues to fascinate. After a brief theatrical run in 1967, the film continued to show up at repertory theaters through the next decade. But with the advent of home video, problems with wider distribution arose, due to clearing music performance rights. Thus, any opportunity to see this film should be taken. Director Murray Lerner hung out at four Newport Folk Festivals (1963-1966), recording performances, interviews, and crowd shots. Editing all of this footage into less than 100 minutes of film inevitably meant compromises; there are no complete performances, the interviews are brief. But the feeling for an era remains, and the most electric moment (literally) involves that famous (or infamous) 1965 performance by Bob Dylan, when he plugged in his guitar and played with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. Among the highlights are several involving veteran bluesmen like Son House breaking through to a mostly white, college-age crowd."
