This is the most recognizable work, at least by title, of Kenneth Anger. Lucifer Rising is on the line with authentic poetic surrealism that intertwines with works made before 1972. Despite that, it's less on the satanistic front than Invocation of My Demon Brother, which is dated in the Summer of Love. From editing standpoint, Lucifer Rising is less chaotic than Anger's older films; it deals with author’s view of ancient Egypt (through Crowley’s prism and philosophy), where Lucifer is translated as Lightbringer, while psychedelic scenes evoke themes such as transmigration of soul, that is connected with setting.
